The Greatest Show On Earth

He had three minutes to do it

Down two rounds in the fight

He had one more three minute round left

And inside of him

The fire was still there

Sizzling

Popping

Crackling

Begging to rage

All the pain

All the work

All the sweat

And blood

All the daydreams about this moment

All the people who believed in him

It all started to boil in his belly

All the doubt

And all of the hope

All the times he hated himself

All the time he wasted

. . . He could redeem himself in the next three minutes

In three minutes he could inspire hope

He could elevate himself

And everyone else around him

It’s not just three minutes

Or 180 seconds

It’s what can happen in that time

It’s what he can do with that time

Magic can be made in three minutes

Alchemy

The impossible can become possible in three minutes

A whole generation can be influenced

Motivated by it

With his three minutes

He could do what he always wanted to do

He just has the man across from him to beat

He can put on the greatest show ever recorded

In three minutes he could save his own life

He could change the world

He could find power he never knew he had

He could find strength

He could feed the indomitable human spirit

. . . Will he do it?

The round starts

And he gets up off his stool

And steps forward

Into the fight

Into the moment

Into the present

Into time

Into space

Here he is

Stripped bare

And here he stands

Still believing he can

For the next three minutes

    He is

The greatest show on earth . . .
